Our group did the Chamber of Horrors, Dr Frankenstein, Lust and Lace, and Sleeping Spirits.

First, the staff was very friendly and personable. The Game Masters were on point when we needed help. One thing that I really liked was that we missed a puzzle (we accidentally bypassed the clue) and the game master reactivated the room to show us what we missed - which most places won’t do.

The rooms were well themed, though some puzzles could have used a bit of TLC (none of which ruined our games).

Chamber of Horrors was kind of creepy and puzzles weren’t extremely hard but definitely had to think outside the box on some. We had a group of 10 so my only warning is the one room is tiled so room was really loud - tell your group to quiet down :-)

We did the other 3 rooms with 6 people.

Dr Frankenstein, for our group, wasn’t extremely hard, but still kept our interest. What we liked about this room was that we could all work on puzzles in smaller groups and come together to solve the overall room.

Lust and Lace is definitely NOT for under 18, which is good because no kids allowed in room. And definitely not for the prudish folks. The first room was pretty hard. We had to break down and ask for a clue or we would have never gotten out. The room got very adult themed towards the end.

Sleeping Spirits was also pretty tough. We spent a lot of time in the first part of the room. Again we had to break down and ask for a clue because we were completely stuck. We also needed another clue towards the end. The first half we had to work together and the second half we were able to split up and get into smaller groups.

All in all we had a great time and definitely recommend their rooms.

Excellently Designed Escapes w. Hiccups

When I arrived a few days ago to do one of Gotham's escape rooms, I had booked it solo. I am used to doing escapes solo. I've always found it hard to get people enthused to do them with me.

I decided to book the "Lust and Lace" room, which is 18+, because in my many escape room experiences I've never done one that was adults only. Apparently I picked the hardest room they have.

Fortunately it was a slow day and they were able to give me a ton of attention and hints, but I did find there were a number of elements in the room - technically speaking - that didn't run just quite right. In particular there was a puzzle involving a lazer gun that just completely crapped the bed.

However I had enough fun doing it that I immediately booked their haunted hotel room escape, and ran that one too.

This one was still challenging but a LOT easier, especially for an experienced escape room fan. I did find the second room had a few technical hiccups as well, but if you just chill out and go with the flow it's not so bad.
Would highly recommend Gotham in Philly. Their creative design and attention to detail is far superior to any other room escape games in the area.
